Housecall Pro vs. Jobber vs. ServiceTitan: which connects best to QuickBooks?

Jobber and Housecall Pro sync to QuickBooks Online in real time, one-way, and self-serve. ServiceTitan requires a manual daily batch export and a Customer Success Manager to turn on. Neither is wrong, they fit different sizes of operation.

How each one actually connects

Jobber
Small operators
  • Sync: Real-time, automatic
  • Direction: One-way
  • Activation: Self-serve

Verify the Connect plan. The Core plan excludes QuickBooks entirely, and you must be an admin in Jobber before connecting.

Housecall Pro
Mid-market
  • Sync: Real-time, only on trigger
  • Direction: One-way
  • Activation: Self-serve

Sync only fires on specific action buttons; printing an invoice does nothing. HCP also auto-creates "Housecall Pro Payment Processing Fees" and "Housecall Pro Tips" accounts in your chart of accounts. Do not rename or delete them.

ServiceTitan
Enterprise, 5+ trucks
  • Sync: Manual daily batch export
  • Direction: One-way
  • Activation: CSM must enable it

Every pricebook item needs a GL account mapped before the first export. Job costing stays in ServiceTitan; QuickBooks only gets class-level totals through Business Units.

All three require QuickBooks Online Simple Start at minimum. Plus is required if you want class tracking for segment or Business Unit reporting.

What is true for all three, regardless of platform

All three sync one-way into QuickBooks, never both ways
Editing a customer or invoice in QuickBooks will not update the field platform
None of them hand QuickBooks itemized job-level cost detail automatically
Class tracking, when used, needs QuickBooks Online Plus

Common questions

Which field service platform connects best to QuickBooks Online?

Jobber and Housecall Pro both sync in real time and are self-serve to activate, which makes them the more hands-off option. ServiceTitan requires a manual daily batch export and needs a Customer Success Manager to turn the integration on, which makes it more powerful for enterprise operations but more prone to falling behind if nobody owns the daily export.

Do any of these sync both ways with QuickBooks?

No. Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan all sync one-way into QuickBooks. Data flows from the field platform into QuickBooks, not the other way. Editing a customer or invoice directly in QuickBooks will not update the field platform.

What QuickBooks plan do I need?

Simple Start is the technical minimum for all three. If you want to use classes for segment or Business Unit reporting, which matters most for ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro users, you need QuickBooks Online Plus.

Why does Housecall Pro create extra accounts in my QuickBooks?

Housecall Pro automatically creates "Housecall Pro Payment Processing Fees" and "Housecall Pro Tips" accounts to track those specific transaction types. They are supposed to be there. Renaming or deleting them can break the sync.

Is ServiceTitan worth the more complex QuickBooks setup?

For shops around 5 or more trucks with enterprise-level operations, usually yes, the platform itself does more. The tradeoff is that the QuickBooks connection needs someone to actively run the daily export and keep pricebook GL mapping current, or the books fall behind.
